About Us
Purpose: To maintain an area-wide
Activity Professional organization
which reflects the interests and needs of the members to:
- Expand and improve the quality of care in health care facilities, adult day care, retirement homes, assisted living communities, and other settings that provide activity services to seniors.
- Ensure better interaction and communication between activity professionals, regulatory agencies, and other health care professionals.
- Promote and provide appropriate educational opportunities specifically geared to the activity profession and the needs of the people it serves.
- Advance professional recognition
- Educate membership of legislation affecting the activity profession.
- Provide local support and interaction among activity professionals.
Serving : Iredell, Rowan, Lincoln, Gaston, Mecklenburg, Union & Cabarrus Counties
MAPA Membership
Membership is open to anyone interested in activity services in long-term healthcare, assisted living communities, adult day care programs, senior centers, retirement housing, etc.
Types of Membership:
- Facility - $20 membership paid for & retained by the facilty in the event the Activity Professional leaves and is replaced with someone else.
- Individual - $20 membership paid for & retained by the member.
- Student - $5 membership available to those taking classes directly relating to the activity profession.
Membership runs on the calendar year. Meetings are held in conjunction with educational workshops at various long-term care communities within MAPA’s district.
How to Join
There are two ways to join: Complete the Online Application below or mail in a printed copy. There are two ways to pay: by credit card or by check made payable to Metrolina Activity Professionals Association.

Members receive the MAPA workshop discount, eligibility for MAPA-sponsored scholarships, news about job opportunities, and access to the entertainer database and facility address lists. What a deal!
